Introduction

Young Leaders are a vibrant and enthusiastic group of youth engaged at Girl Guiding and Volunteerism at Maldives Girl Guides Association. The 17 to 35 year old Young Women strives to bring the best in them to uphold the guiding values.

You have made the absolutely right choice in joining the Young Leaders if you are looking:

The Executive Committee

The election of the executive members takes place  at the Annual General  Meeting of the Young Leaders.

The Executive Committee should comprise a minimum of three members:

President:  To head the Young Leaders and the council. She chairs business meetings and keeps control of the meetings. Being crisp and business like helps.

Look for the following qualities when choosing your president:

 

  • Enthusiasm- it might be contagious and stimulate others
  • Determination- gets things done
  • Capable of organizing
  • Respect for others – this has to be earned
  • Constantly reviewing Young Leaders Progress
  • Able to delegate responsibility
  • Awareness- especially of the needs of others in the Young Leaders group
  • Set an example for all to follow

 

 

A secretary: to keep minutes and deal with correspondence, circulate agenda for Unit meetings. She works closely with the President. Moreover, responsible for arranging the Agenda for Executive Committee meetings and that of the AGM too. Also she has to circulate the agenda and minutes to all concerned. If the Young Leaders do not have a social secretary she might have to handle arrangements for social events too.

A Treasurer: To collect subs from the Young Leaders and to keep accounts, pay bills, present balance sheets to the Executive Committee and also to present the annual statement of accounts to the Young Leaders at the AGM. She is also responsible for supplying financial information to the group leader and MGGA.

Other positions, which might be considered, are:

Ad hoc committees can be appointed to look after special events, functions, Program and activities.
